How to Establish a Positive ‘Work Mode’ after having Time Off.
Returning to work after having time off, particularly over the festive period can feel like such a slog! You may be feeling a little sluggish, a tad overwhelmed, or completely lost as to who you are and what you do.
Here are a few things you can try to help you establish a positive ‘work mode’ at the beginning of 2023!
Create a morning routine.
This could include getting up at the same time each day, making your bed, having a healthy breakfast, reading a book, or having a cup of your favourite coffee. Whatever helps you feel ready for the day.Take it slow.
I’d imagine you don’t want to fly straight into back-to-back meetings, so block out some time in your calendar for you to catch up on your emails and make a plan for the week, month, or even year!Prioritise your to-do list.
You don’t need to get everything done on your first day back! Ease into the hard tasks by completing tasks you enjoy or that you can easily tick off. There’s a sense of achievement in that!Take regular breaks!
Returning to work after having time off is a real gear change for your mind and body, so ensure you are being kind to yourself by taking regular breaks.Think about what support you need this year…
Is there a book you’ve been meaning to read? A course you’d like to take? A coach you’ve been thinking of working with? Take time at the start of the year to make this happen! It all starts with you.
